First, if you have weight issues, you likely need to either consume less calories or burn more calories on a daily basis.  Ideally, you should BOTH consume less and burn more.   Eating a well-balanced diet that is low in both fat and calories is a good place to start.  You also need to include exercise in your day-to-day activities.  If you have a double chin caused by excess fat, your first step needs to be to get rid of that fat.   If you are overweight, a reduction of your total body fat will be needed.  Since it’s difficult to reduce the fat in one specific place without surgery.

Step 2. Start working on tightening your muscles in your neck.  If you exercise regularly either at home or at a gym, you can use your down-time between sets to accomplish neck exercises.  Another great time to incorporate neck exercises into your daily routine is to do them when you wake-up in the morning and again before bed at night.   It won’t take more than 5 minutes and you can do it twice a day.  The results will be dramatic!  If you find yourself forgetting, put a note on the bathroom mirror or write it on your toothbrush.

First, look straight ahead and while keeping your shoulders in place, move your head forward.  You should be able to feel the stretch of your neck as you do so.  Hold this pose for ten seconds, then return to a relaxed position.  Do this three times.  Start again by looking straight ahead.  Then move your head as far as you can to the right.  Hold for 10 seconds and then return to a relaxed position.  Repeat 3 times.  Then turn your head to the left, hold for 10 seconds, relax.  Also repeat this 3 times.

The most important tip I can give you on how to get rid of a double chin is to start straight away.  Don’t make the mistakes many people make by researching this subject for days and delaying doing anything about it. This is a simple exercise that you can start immediately. Drop everything you are doing now, go to the mirror and do it. Tomorrow the muscles in your neck will be sore, but this shows you have worked them, but the results will be fast and dramatic.
